To prevent this Cinotas offers a secure online backup solution. Data files are scheduled to backup daily, and are stored remotely on our servers. The servers are networked to mirror each other, creating additional copies of files that are stored on different servers. As an added measure of protection, files are backed up weekly to tape, which is stored off site. On request, a dedicated tape drive can be installed for specific clients who may also request scheduled daily tape backups from the server. All online backup operations are confirmed by email upon successful completion of the procedure.

Secure data storage

An ever present threat is the security of confidential company information. Information stored on our servers, may only be accessed by means of the personalised username and password of the client, thus making it secure from others. An additional safety feature takes the form of reader protection, in that the reading of files can only come from the originating network, that is, the same internet connection that originally sent the online backup. This function requires a static IP address. It is also protected from internet traffic by a firewall. A firewall is software which forms a safety barrier that stops unauthorised access.

Our data centre is secured by a 24 hour security system, while the servers themselves are protected physically from fire, temperature extremes, and power failures.

Fast Data Retrieval

The software installed to run the backup supports a user friendly retrieval and restoration process. In addition, clients who log onto the customer zone of the Cinotas website with a personalised username and password, may select files for download, or CD delivery.
